SIX-year-old Amy Walling wowed judges at the UDO World Championships in Blackpool to take first place in the under-eights intermediate Street Dance section.
Cheering her on in the audience at the Winter Gardens were mum and dad, Deborah and David Walling, and her sister, Loren (11), who got to the semi-finals in her age group.

"Amy has taken part in competitions before and got a second and fourth, but coming first, especially in the World Championships, was a really big thing," said Mrs Walling, of Chapman Close, Barnoldswick. "We were all really excited!"

She was up against competitors from France, America and the Netherlands, as well as the UK.

Amy, a pupil at Coates Lane Community Primary School, has been dancing since she was four, but only took up street dancing a year ago, combining her classes with others in disco, rock and roll, and team dancing. She competes as an individual and in the pairs section for disco and street dancing.

"She is not at all nervous about competitions and wants to enter Britain's Got Talent next year," added her mum. Amy is now learning a new routine for her next competition in Stockport in October.
