BARNOLDSWICK'S Festival of Flight became the latest casualty of Britain's bad weather, with heavy rain and waterlogged ground causing the cancellation of most activities at the event.
Hot air balloon pilots cancelled all flying following a pilot's briefing at Friday tea time.

As well as heavy rain stopping flying, Victory Park's waterlogged pitches meant ground-based activity was also ruled out, with fun fair operators abandoning the traditional fairground site.

Stunt kite display team Sky Symphony dodged showers on Saturday with free flying kites and went ahead with their formal stunt kite displays on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday also saw the launch of Barnoldswick Basement's youth club's giant kite, which club members made in the weeks leading up to the event. Scores of children also made their own kites or foam birds at workshops in the event's marquee.
