A BARNOLDSWICK company is taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in oil-rich Saudi Arabia.
Event Staging and Structures Ltd, based on the Ouzledale Foundry site, was asked to help provide the skilled manpower and equipment needed to build a temporary stage for the 75th anniversary of oil giants, Saudi Aramco.

The celebration will mark the historic signing of the original concession agreement between the kingdom and Standard Oil of California in 1933 and will be attended by King Abdullah.

Spokesman Laura Swarbrick said the Barnoldswick company had been invited to take part in this prestigious project by a fellow staging company in Somerset, "Serious Stages".

"We flew 25 tonnes of our gear out in a heavy lift cargo plane at the beginning of April in preparation and Seth Kirkbride, one of our senior foremen, is now out in Saudi Arabia helping to construct the stage floor and orbit roof," she told us.

The company is owned by Mr Carl Ryder and was originally based in Colne.
