Barnoldswick man airlifted to hospital after car smash

A Barnoldswick man who was cut out of a car after a crash on a notorious stretch of road is said to be recovering well in hospital.
Stephen Greenwood (27), of Edmondson Street, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa which was in collision with a Ford Fiesta on the A59 at the bottom of Sawley Brow.

Mr Greenwood was airlifted to hospital by the North West Air Ambulance after the collision around 12-37 p.m. on Saturday.

Mr Greenwood was said to be suffering a broken femur and head injuries.
The driver of the Fiesta and Corsa both escaped injury.

The road was closed for some time to allow investigations to take place.
