BELLS jangled across Barnoldswick when 15 criers from across the UK came together to compete in the Barlick Bellman Town Crier Competition.
Barnoldswick's own crier, Liz Mowe, who was recently crowned European Champion, played host at the event on Saturday and got proceedings off with a swing when she performed her own cry about the town.

After a rousing contest, David Mitchell, of Chester, was announced as the 2008 winner and he was presented with his trophy by the judges, Couns Allan Buck and Marjorie Adams.

During the event, there was also a competition to find a new junior town crier for Barnoldswick, and that honour went to Nina Salorian (10), who follows in her brother Vahan's footsteps.
