THE eve of Jeffrey Ashworth's last day as president of Barnoldswick and Earby Rotary Club proved a happy occasion.
The club treated 25 OAPs to an evening country run to Settle, followed by supper and singing at to Rolls-Royce Leisure Club, organised by Rotarian Arthur Bardsley.

The following evening, Mr Ashworth invested new president Mr Colin Burns in office, receiving the past-president's jewel in return. Mr Arnold Kuchartshuck was presented with the vice-president's badge.

Mr Ashworth gave a resume of the year's activities and Mr Burns, who has served as president before, relinquished his post of secretary, with Mr Bardsley taking over.

Mr Burns said the past year had made a difficult start, but had ended with five new members and hopes of the club recruiting more.
