TWO West Craven Off-licenses failed a recent test purchase exercise that police and trading standards organised to check staff were not selling to under-age drinkers.
The checks were carried out on November 5th and six premises were targeted. Of the two which failed, one was a first-time offender and the other, a repeat offender.

"In the case of the repeat offender, one more failure and their licence will go to review and we will ask for it to be revoked," said PC Chris Storey.

He went on to say as it was employees who had sold the alcohol, not the owner/supervisor, there were no prosecutions following the Bonfire Night checks, but the two employees caught had been issued with £80 fixed penalty notices.
