ITS been good to talk, but almost impossible to park, since BT put up a new telegraph pole on a back street in Barnoldswick.
The pole has been installed half-way along the shared back street for Grange Street and Gisburn Road.

And residents are far from happy as, if there are any vehicles parked at the bottom of the street, others can no longer pass because the pole is blocking the way.

Coun. Margaret Bell said BT's actions were causing horrendous problems.

She contacted Lancashire County Council to complain on behalf of residents and was told BT did not need planning permission and had no problem with the current siting.

"There is no parking there apart from this back street for people in Grange Street and Gisburn Road unless they have one of the garages nearby," Coun. Bell told Pendle Council's West Craven Committee.

"This has always been a problem area for parking and the pole is making it impossible for cars to pass."

She asked for a strong letter of objection to be sent to BT asking for the pole to be relocated.

Residents said BT had given no indication of its plans to move the pole, just sent out a letter saying repairs were to be carried out to the lines, with possible temporary disruption of supply.

Many had written to BT pointing out there were four garages and a carport at the top of the street, which could no longer be accessed if anyone parked at the bottom.
