POLICE have uncovered a cannabis farm in Cobden Street by using their sense of smell!
PCSO Gerry Woods was on foot patrol in the Cobden Street area when he noticed the distinctive smell and returned a short time later with more police officers and a search warrant.

Speaking about the discovery, PCSO Woods said: "My colleague PC Dave Pascoe obtained a search warrant and discovered the occupant of the address was growing cannabis."

"We found a substantial number of cannabis plants being cultivated. Where we can find clear evidence of offences, we will put people before the courts. I would like to urge anyone with any information about drug-related activity to have the confidence to come forward and speak to us.

"As a result of the raid, one person was arrested and approx 28 cannabis plants destroyed. If anyone has any information about cannabis being grown or sold in their area, they are urged to contact me directly on 07903 287107, by coming along to their local Police and Communities Together meeting or, if they want, they can call Crimestoppers, free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111."

He concluded: "Working together we can combat drug-use in our communities."
