Yobs target Gawthorpe Hall
MINDLESS vandals have again targeted Padiham's historic Gawthorpe Hall.
They smashed two benches in the grounds of the Grade II listed hall, breaking the seating slats and turning the benches over.
It happened overnight between Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
Empty alcohol bottles were found near the scene and police believe groups of youths who congregate in the grounds of the hall may be responsible.
This attack follows vandalism last month, when 14 windows in the hall were smashed.
Sgt Martin Bishop, of Padiham Police, blasted the vandalism as "mindless".
He added: "We are disappointed people are damaging the jewel in Padiham's crown and groups are causing a juvenile nuisance. As always, it is a mindless minority doing this sort of damage and being disrespectful to a hall which is part of the national heritage of this country."
Anyone with any information on the incident can call Crimestoppers, free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
