Burnley manager Owen Coyle will consider appealing Clarke Carlisle's dismissal for a late challenge on Sean St Ledger: "I was probably 30 yards away. Clarke certainly did lunge for the ball.

"I spoke to Uriah (Rennie) after the game and I just felt it would have been dealt with in a better situation.

"I think Clarke probably did lunge for the ball but I don't think there was any malice in that, it was just ill-timed.

"He was going to blow his whistle five seconds later for the end of the match anyway, so that was disappointing and a blow to us because Stan Varga's been out injured and suddenly we've now got problems in the centre half department."
