PROLIFIC Padiham predator Andy Payton wants others to carry on where he left off as he looks to bestow the art of goal-scoring on to amateur players.
On Monday, July 6th he will start the new "Andy Payton School of Finishing" at the Spirit of Sport Centre in Ormerod Road.
Teams of all ages are being encouraged to join up for the sessions which will be held every day at the venue between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The training is being held in conjunction with sponsors Rapid Recruit in Hargreaves Street where enrolment forms can be picked up from.
The iconic former Burnley striker became a huge fan favourite at Turf Moor thanks to his ability to find the back of the net whether it was a well-placed finish from outside the box, a volley, tap-in from inside the box or a header.
Payton made 156 league appearances for the Clarets between 1998 and 2003 scoring a total of 69 league goals.
In the 1999/2000 season he was awarded for his goal-scoring prowess with the Division Two Golden Boot award after his 27 goals saw Burnley promoted to Division One (now the Championship).
Payton, whose 11-year-old daughter Olivia finished top scorer for Burnley girls last season with 18 goals, said: "Everything that has happened this year at Burnley Football Club has really reignited my spark. I used to go back on my own and just smash balls into an empty net.
"I want to pass on my experience to other people because there isn't anything like this around. It's an hour of intense finishing. Anyone can improve their game by doing this."
Places are going fast so to book onto the course get a form from Rapid Recruit or ring Payton for more information on 07733 615705.
