BURNLEY have completed the £1m-plus signing of Scunthorpe United striker Martin Paterson.
The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor after completing the formalities of a medical.

Paterson will cost the Clarets an initial £1m, equalling the record transfer fee paid for both Robbie Blake and Ian Moore.

That fee will rise by a further £300,000 based on appearances.

Scunthorpe United will also receive 20% of the profit of any future sale of the Tunstall-born striker.

Burnley manager Owen Coyle said: "I am absolutely delighted to have Martin on board at Burnley.

"I admired him even when I was managing in Scotland and he was always a prime target of mine this summer.

"I am excited to have signed such a young, hungry striker who is keen to score goals and I feel sure he will be a success at Turf Moor."

Paterson will wear the number 10 shirt in the coming Championship season.

For a full interview with Paterson regarding his move to Turf Moor, see Friday's Burnley Express.
