BURNLEY have boosted their strike force with the transfer deadline day signing of Cardiff City's Steven Thompson.
The 6ft 2in Scottish international, 29, has signed a two-year deal on a free transfer from Ninian Park.

Thompson netted twice on his Cardiff debut against the Clarets in January 2006 in a 3-0 win, after arriving for £250,000 from Rangers.

That double has contributed to 16 goals in 97 appearances for the Bluebirds, although he has been used mainly as a substitute after a number of injury problems.

Thompson's last goal came on the opening day of the present season in a 2-1 win against Southampton, with the frontman also having netted three goals in 16 appearances for Scotland.
