The recent landfill tax increases will hit Lancashire businesses hard, especially smaller firms, warns Neales Waste Management.
The tax hike increases the rate by one third, from £24 to £32 and has been introduced to curb industrial wastage and encourage recycling and the change will impact on all businesses.

However Steve Jones, sales and marketing manager at Neales Waste
Management, says that there are solutions to ease the burden for all sizes of business, from the SME through to the multinational bluechip.

He said: "The idea of the new charges is to double the amount of tax within three years. It will have a huge financial impact across the board, but we're now living in an age where we have to think seriously about how much waste we create.

"Smaller business may feel as though there isn't much to do to avoid the increased charges, but we have vast experience that we can apply to any business of any size. The money spent on managing your waste effectively compares well with money saved on tax bills and other charges."

Neales has been in the waste management industry for nearly 20 years, helping not only safely dispose of materials but also cutting down on volume and implementing waste minimisation and recycling programmes.

They can look at the processes currently in place and suggest ways they can be streamlined, where recycling can be implemented and, finally, where waste is necessary, how best to dispose of it.
