BUDDING actors are being called on to audition in front of a professional theatre company for an outdoor performance of "Romeo and Juliet".

Those selected by Say Two Professional Production Company will be given the chance to dress up in traditional Elizabethan costumes, tread the boards with professional actors, and learn to sword fight during the outdoor play in Alkincoats Park, Colne.

Colne councillors and Pendle Council's parks department are organising the event, on Saturday, September 20th, at 7 p.m.

Say Two will hold open auditions in Colne for people to be part of this free production.

Coun. Graham Roach said: "This is an opportunity not to be missed for all would-be thespians of all ages. You can either watch or take part of this production and perform alongside professional actors and other members of the community.

"It is a great opportunity to come and watch and work with internationally renowned director and choreographer, Christine Appleby, Say Two's superb professional fight directors, and be part of this exciting production.

"We are working closely with a number of local schools throughout Pendle and are also inviting pupils and members of the community to come along and take part of this production with the professionals."

Open auditions will be held in Colne in early September. Those chosen will rehearse with the company's artistic director and fight director.
Coun. Ann Kerrigan said taking part in the play would be a great advantage to those studying it at SAT or GCSE level.

She said: "This is a must see for all students with a free director's talk. It's a production that should not to be missed, with stunning sword fights and dynamic dance routines - this performance is superb for everybody studying this play and anybody interested in innovative theatre. We are also organising theatre workshops within the schools to support academic studies of it."

For more information call Say Two Production Company on 01257 453956 and ask for Christine Appleby.
