COLNE'S Asda store was evacuated and a member of staff taken to hospital with a head injury last night after a sprinkler system was activated.

Around 50 customers were ushered from the store at 8-30 p.m. and remained outside for 10 minutes while fire-fighters ensured the premises were safe.

Staff were engaged in a major mopping-up operation as water from the sprinkler flooded the rear aisles of the premises, which were cordoned off to customers.
