A STUDENT from Colne is to study at America's prestigious Harvard University.
Mark Parker (18), of Priestfield Avenue, Colne, is preparing to take his A-Level exams, but while his friends are worried about getting the grades they need, he is looking forward to his adventure after passing the entry tests before Christmas.

He has earned a place on a four-year course at the 17th Century Massachusetts university and hopes to specialise in maths after his first year.

The former Laneshaw Bridge School pupil, is studying at Ermysteds Sixth Form, Skipton.

Mark, who is due to start in September, said: "The longest I've been away from home is two weeks, but I'm not the homesick type, so I'm sure I'll be fine. My friends are all really proud of me - but I think they're just happy because they'll be able to go out and stay with me!"
