A TRAWDEN ju-jitsu club hailed its first two black belt graduates.
Tsunami students Dawn Sandel and Chris Gray were rewarded for five years of intensive training after proving their expertise in throwing, self-defence, submissions, striking and live sparring.

Cobra Martial Arts regional director Ray Bell, a 6th Dan, put them through their paces at his Burnley dojo.

Tsunami sensei Alan Sandel, who founded the club with Dawn three years ago, said: "Dawn and Chris trained for more than five years each to gain the coveted black belt. I am extremely proud of them. They are the first black belt gradings to come out of our club.

"The grading was Chris's last job to fulfil before leaving the area. He is moving up to Aviemore to help run a pub with his mother. We wish him all the best."

The club trains at Trawden Forest Primary School every Tuesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. New members welcome, adults only.
