PEOPLE are being urged to help a Colne mother-of-two in her fight against a deadly illness.

Mrs Julie Patefield was diagnosed with acute leukaemia two months ago and, despite undergoing chemotherapy, may need a bone marrow transplant.

But she has a rare type of bone marrow and leukaemia charity the Anthony Nolan Trust is holding a recruitment clinic to test people who could be a match.

The event will be held at Burnley Fire Station in Belvedere Road, where her husband Andrew works, on Thursday, December 11th, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Donors must be aged 18 to 40 and will be asked to give a small sample of blood and to sign up for the register.
