The £33m. complex at the end of the M65 at Colne is the country's first super Boundary Mill, and boss Mr Richard Bannister hopes it will be the first of many.

It has huge retail areas, with the ground floor selling clothes and the upper floor providing home, kitchen and art and craft materials. There is also a separate and bigger Marks & Spencer section.

As well as the stone-built Banny's - purpose-built but looking like a converted traditional Pennine farm - the main building includes Bannister's Restaurant and BB's coffee house, both of which include balcony areas with views across Pendle.

The new complex will employ 900 people and has new concessions including House of Fraser, Linea, Kookai, Craghopper, Regatta and tea and coffee specialists Whittard of Chelsea. At the front of the main building are two separate premises - Discover Pendle and Thorntons chocolates.

Mr Bannister said: "We are looking forward to welcoming our loyal existing customers and attract new ones to this new, exciting development of Boundary Mill. It is the first of its kind in the country - the first super Boundary Mill."

He paid tribute to his staff and Pendle Council for their contribution to the success of the development.

Mr Bannister and his wife Janine will be joined in opening the store at 10 a.m. by the Mayor of Pendle, Coun. Allan Buck, and chief Executive Stephen Barnes.

Mrs Bannister, son Ben and fellow restaurant director Mr Cliff Meacham will open Banny's at noon.
