The store chain giant, which was granted permission by councillors in July to develop the derelict former Coach House Antiques site flanked by Windsor Street, Windy Bank and Norfolk Street for a 7,552 square metre store, has this week submitted a reserved matters application showing the full details of the proposed development which will go before the Colne and District Committee next month.

Sainsbury's was given the green light in the summer after councillors debated two controversial applications for new supermarkets in the town.
The other, which was withdrawn, was made on behalf of Tesco and would have involved the demolition of the public library in Market Street and the former Kippax Biscuit factory and former market hall in Dockray Street.

As part of the planning permission, Sainsbury's has promised to spend £1 million on highway improvements around the site, including the Skipton Road roundabout and the traffic lights at the bottom of Langroyd Road.

Sainsbury's will also introduce a bus service, with an electronic information display in-store, linking the new store to the town centre.
The new store is expected to create up to 320 new jobs for the area.
