A COLNE woman will have to undergo plastic surgery after part of her lip was savagely bitten off during a pub brawl.
The 22-year-old had been involved in a row with another woman at the Union Exchange, Market Street, in the early hours of last Sunday. Police were called to the scene shortly before 2 a.m.

The seriousness of her facial injuries meant the woman was taken to Airedale General Hospital for medical attention and police have confirmed she will need to return to hospital for plastic surgery.

A 46-year-old woman from Colne was arrested shortly afterwards, and has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

DI Derek Jones, of Nelson CID, appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward. He said: "We are treating this as a very serious incident and have a team of detectives working on the case. We've spoken to people who were in the pub at the time but would appeal to others who may have information to come forward."

To help, call police on 472645 or anonymously on 0800 555111.
