POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Laneshaw Bridge on Tuesday evening.
The collision happened at about 6-40 p.m. on Keighley Road and involved a Renault Clio and a Land-Rover 90 which was towing a trailer.

The two vehicles collided and the Land-Rover was rolled onto its side. The driver, 46-year-old Jonathan Salter from Bingley, West Yorkshire, sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to Airedale General Hospital where he later died.

The driver of the Clio, a 22-year-old man from Hapton, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Wednesday and later released on police bail.

Investigations into the collision are ongoing with police appealing for witnesses to come forward as soon as possible.

Road Traffic Sgt Tracey Ward said: "A thorough investigation is now under way into this tragic incident and a police family liaison officer has been placed with the family affected.

"In order to assist us with our inquiries, I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and speak to us. In particular, we would like to hear from the driver of a vehicle travelling towards West Yorkshire at the time of the incident who may have seen the collision or the immediate aftermath.

"Anyone with any information should contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45."
