A NEW clerk has been appointed to Laneshaw Bridge Parish Council.

Jackie Peden (56) takes on the administrative role at the next meeting on Wednesday.

Jackie, who brings 12 years experience as a school manager, will deal with issues including agenda items, accounts, and mail.

Having been a resident in the village for 15 years, she hopes to learn more about the community and circulate information that comes her way. Although the idea is in its early stages, she aims to create a file in the village chapel, where she can share newsletters and bulletins.

Jackie, of Southfield Terrace, said: “I want to take a bit more interest in the village, and find out what’s going on.”

The last clerk left the council around September last year, and parish council chairman Anne Constable is positive Jackie can help move the group forward.

She said: “Jackie really stood out. She is experienced in taking minutes, banking and other clerking responsibilities, albeit in a different work environment. She is a villager and her children attended the school, chapel and youth club. She is friendly, knowledgeable and a lovely person.”

To get in touch with Jackie or put an item on the Laneshaw Bridge Parish Council meeting agenda, email jackie.peden@hotmail.co.uk, or ring 859868.
