Police announce reshuffle in Nelson and Colne

PENDLE Police has announced a reshuffle of Community Beat Managers in Nelson and Colne.

The announcement follows news West Craven is to fall into line with the rest of Pendle.

Bradley ward in Nelson is to receive a second CBM to help PC Tony Feather in the coming weeks and Marsden and Southfield has gone from two to three CBMs with PC Emlyn Parry joining PC David Richardson and PC Aftab Shah.

Whitefield, Walverden and Clover Hill are to be merged to form a new area called Nelson Centre and this will be covered by three CBMs going forward in the form of PC Hazel Richardson, PC Ian Willis and PC Karl Pickles.

In Colne, Waterside is to get a third CBM next month, a decision made by police with particular reference to the town’s night-time economy.

Vivary Bridge and Foulridge are to become one under the watch of PC Claire Sharples and PC Carl Nevison will continue to look after Boulsworth as well as his role in Earby. Barrowford and Brierfield are to remain unchanged.

Insp. Phil Davies said: “The moves should represent an improvement to keep crime relatively low in the area and we will continue to improve standards for the residents by working alongside Pendle Council and others.

“It’s a reorganisation of staffing levels in certain areas and Nelson will benefit from increased neighbourhood policing in the long term.

“As a force, we are looking to at providing services more efficiently and have changed the way we do business. I am more satisfied with the way things are.”
