LETTER: Official response to M65 roundabout signs query

i’m writing in response to D. Walker’s letter about roundabout signs for the Junction 13 roundabout off the M65. I’ve also sent a letter to respond to the correspondence sent by D. Walker direct to the council.

The signs were approved by the Planning and Building Control Manager. That decision was agreed by the chairman of the council’s Nelson Committee.

Anyone can look at the assessment I made of the situation on our website www.pendle.gov.uk/planningapplications

Simply click on Online Planning Applications Archive and enter the reference number 13/10/0475P. In dealing with advertisement applications, planning officers assess how any advertisements would impact on highway safety and the look of the roundabout only. This is a legal requirement.

We do appreciate D. Walker’s concerns but can only assess applications using the relevant planning policy and I can reassure D. Walker this was done.

KEITH THOMPSON

Planning Officer, Pendle Council
