Pendle Movie Makers
A GROUP of dedicated Pendle film makers have been recording life in the area for more than 45 years.
The busy Pendle Movie Makers group - formerly Pendle Film Society - was set up in 1960 and meets once a month at the Blind Centre, in Derby Street, Colne.
"It's a very relaxed club, very informal," said club secretary Peter Copestake, who is a Fellow of national body the IAC and has won many awards for his films over the years.
The group, which has around 20 members, has its own projector for film shows; stages shows for the public; copies amateur films to video as a special service for local people and, of course, produces documentaries and covers local events.
One of its most popular productions has been "Nelson '62", a collaboration with Nelson Council to record life in the town in the early 1960s, which was revived in recent years and has sold almost 500 copies.
"Anybody can come along," said Peter Copestake, "you don't need to have a camcorder, but if you do, so much the better.
"We spend a lot of time helping each other out on projects as we have a wide spread of interest and ability among group members."
