A talk on a revolutionary railway spanning Lancashire and Yorkshire was just the ticket for members of Pendleside Probus Club.

Noel Coates (pictured) detailed the steaming success of The Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, AKA The Business Line, which transformed travel times in the North of England, reducing them from days to just hours.

It reached the final destination on its journey when it amalgamated with the London and North Eastern railway and was later divided into the newly created LNER and the LMS.

Pendleside Probus Club ’s next meeting will be at Fence Church Hall on Wednesday, October 4th at 10am when Tim Forman presents a talk, Twenty Humorous Years in Sales and Marketing.
