A Manchester-based band with roots in Colne and Barrowford has written a song to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday.
Entitled "Inyaniso", which means truth, the single by International One is Archbishop Desmond Tutu's gift to the former president of South Africa and will be released online at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The band's first single, "Moonshine and Roses", which was aired on Radio 1 and MTV at the beginning of the year, saw the music video filmed for £200 at Pendle Hippodrome Theatre and surrounding streets of Colne after they enlisted "Shameless" star Jody Latham.

Both managers of the band, Andrew Hirst and Stephen Rigg, are from Colne and Barrowford and off the back of that video got a deal with Universal Music Group.

Writer and frontman John Blaylock said: "When we got the letter from Archbishop Tutu, we were amazed he connected with our sound. We aren't the most traditional of bands but he seems to understand that the next wave of musicians will make up part of the group that will continue the cause."
