THE decision of Pendle Council's Standards Committee, which found Liberal Democrat Coun. Tony Greaves guilty of breaching the code of conduct, has been welcomed by Labour group leader, Coun. Mohammed Iqbal.
Coun. Iqbal was the subject of verbal abuse by the peer and Pendle councillor.

The Labour councillor said: "I am pleased that, despite his attempts to stall the process for over eight months, Coun. Greaves has been found guilty of his swearing towards me.

"Clearly, I am somewhat disappointed no sanction was imposed, but would strongly urge Coun. Greaves to sign up for an anger management course, as he has a very poor track record of 'losing his rag' and trying to bully other people.

"If he can't bear any criticism, then maybe it's time for him to consider retirement."
