Nelson man appears in court accused of murder

A MAN who was facing a wounding charge has appeared in court accused of murder.
It follows the death of 56-year-old Ronnie Walker four weeks after an alleged assault.

Twenty-three-year-old James McGuire, formerly of Sackville Street, Nelson, was originally charged with wounding with intent.

Mr Walker lived at Hareden Brook Close, Audley, Blackburn.

Judge Anthony Russell adjourned the case until December 19th when he is expected to enter his plea. A trial date has been set aside for February 5th.

McGuire was remanded on bail with conditions at Preston Crown Court. They include a condition not to enter the Blackburn or Darwen borough, unless for pre-arranged legal appointments.
