PLANS to open Pendle's new superschool in Oxford Road, Nelson, on Monday have had to be postponed for a week.
The ultra-modern building was due to be completed by now but problems, including weeks of heavy rain, have meant the launch has to be put off.
It is home to Pendle Vale College and Pendle Community High School and College.

In a joint letter to parents, Pendle Vale headteacher Mr Steve Wilson and chairman of governors Coun. John David said: "We write to inform you the builders have done an absolutely fantastic job and your child will be overwhelmed by what they see when they enter the building.

"However, in what is a hugely complex and challenging undertaking where the schedule has been kept up in most areas, a number of issues beyond our control have arisen that cause us concern.

"We are not quite there and as a result have had to make the difficult decision that students will not be able to enter the building until September 15th.

"We realise this may cause significant inconvenience to you in terms of childcare arrangements. If this presents a real problem to you, please contact school as soon as you can and we will try to work out some solution with you."

On September 15th, Year 7 students will arrive at 8-40 a.m. and Year 11 at 10 a.m., while the other years will stay at home, and on the Tuesday all students will go in at 8-40 a.m.
