PLANS to extend a Nelson mosque are being recommended for refusal by Pendle Council officers.
The Mohamaddi Mosque in Netherfield Road is seeking permission to extend the building over a car park at first floor level, which would lead to the prayer room and teaching facilities being moved and the existing prayer room used for other purposes.

But planning officer Keith Thompson tells members of the council's Nelson Committee in a report to their meeting on Monday the increased demand for parking caused by a larger mosque cannot be met on site and recommends the application be refused.
