POLICE are questioning a man after a laser pen was shone at the force helicopter as it flew over the area last night.
The 45-year-old was arrested at an address in Nelson around 10-30 p.m. after the helicopter pilot reported being temporarily dazzled by a light shone towards him.

He was forced to take evasive action before alerting ground forces and the man was arrested by officers soon afterwards.

He has been charged with actions endangering an aircraft and is being quizzed at Burnley Police Station.

A police spokesman said the pilot was not hurt in the incident and added: "The helicopter had been in the air over Nelson assisting Greater Manchester Police officers in their pursuit of a vehicle between the two force areas. The arrested man is not thought to have been involved in the original incident."
