RESIDENTS awoke to a winter wonderland this morning after around 3in. of snow fell overnight.
Many brave commuters skidded and crawled their way into work, while others left their cars at home, preferring to join the multitudes who headed for the bus-stop and others who donned their Wellington boots and tramped in.

Several schools announced they were closing their doors, giving youngsters a chance to enjoy the first snowfall for some time, too.
