THE last two remaining pubs on the main road through Brierfield have gone on the market.
The Waggon and Horses and the Feathers, in Colne Road, are respectively priced at £225,000 and £250,000 - and their sales gives rise to the possibility there may soon be no pubs on the main road between the Clayton Arms in Nelson and the Prairie, just over the Burnley boundary.

The Waggon and Horses is described by Fleurets, Manchester-based agents selling the pub, as having open plan trading accommodation, a single central servery, a car park, beer patio, kitchen and four-bedroomed flat.

The Feathers, sold by Westlake and Co., of Skipton, is said to be a traditional pub comprising three trade rooms around a central bar with cellars below and private quarters over. It is said to be suitable for alternative uses, subject to planning consent.

Brierfield used to have five main road pubs – the Junction Hotel, the Greyhound Hotel and the Wigglesworth Arms have all long been closed and converted.
