CRIME levels in Nelson fell in November compared to the previous year, according to statistics presented to Pendle councillors on Monday.
Insp. Phil Davies, from Nelson police, told the council’s Nelson Committee there had been 192 reported crimes in the month, a fall of 25 (11%) on the figure for November, 2010.
Of these, six were burglaries, a drop of 10 on last year. Four were in Marsden and Southfield, one in Whitefield and one in Bradley.
There were 23 cases of vehicle crime spread evenly across the town, compared to 34 last year.
Incidents of violent crime went up from 45 to 57, with Marsden and Southfield seeing 22 cases, Cloverhill and Walverden 15, Whitefield 12 and Bradley eight.
Criminal damage fell from 49 to 38, while burglaries in properties other than homes fell by 25% from 32 to 24.
