Appeal after car torched in Brierfield

Police have appealed for witnesses after a car was set on fire outside a house in Brierfield.

Police said they were called out to the incident in Quaker Rise by the fire service at approximately 8-25pm on Saturday.

A BMW One Series was set on fire deliberately, according to the police, and the fire service extinguished the blazing vehicle.

Sgt Shaun Pearson, of Nelson police, said: "The vehicle was deliberately set on fire and an investigation is ongoing.

"We would be interested to hear from anybody who saw a dark coloured Renault Megane or a dark VW Golf in the area a short time after the incident."
