The Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu will be back in Barnoldswick on Wednesday to officially open a new town primary school.

Dr Sentamu blessed a stone on a visit to Barlick last December which has now taken pride of place at the entrance of the new Barnoldswick CE Primary School off Kelbrook Road.

The Archbishop was invited back to open the state-of-the-art primary school by the school council and will do the honour of cutting the ribbon in front of a host of invited special guests, pupils and staff.

Headteacher Michelle Dodgson said: “The school is great, it’s like we have always been here. We’re setting up a new library, new breakfast and after school clubs and more. There’s lots to build on.”
