POLICE are treating a fire at a Colne primary school over the weekend as suspicious.

The blaze broke out at an outbuilding at Park Primary School around 1-30 a.m. on Sunday.

The shed was being used to store a large amount of outdoor play equipment as well as teachers’ resources.

Headteacher Mr Jo Hale said: “The store has been completely destroyed, nothing could be salvaged. All the staff, parents and children are completely devastated, this seems like such a senseless act.”

The school has been unable to put a figure on the damage but the equipment is expected to cost thousands of pounds to replace.

Anyone with information about the fire or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time should call Colne police on 472441 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
