Whatever next? That’s what I asked myself when I learned the Royal Blackburn Hospital is having to introduce a full-time police presence in their A&E department.
Startling figures reveal a large number of medical staff have had to endure verbal and physical abuse as they attempt to look after the sick and poorly.
I mean, what sort of low life carries out an unprovoked attack on caring, over-worked doctors and nurses?
If I had my way anybody found guilty of carrying out such an attack would get a 12-month ban from using the NHS. Maybe that would bring them to their senses.
