A Barnoldswick chip shop owner took shaving foam, flour and cake dye on the chin, all in the cause of charity.

Richard Milner, owner of Chubby’s Chippy in Albert Road, was dressed up as a woman and locked in the stocks in Barnoldswick Town Square after finishing last in a fund-raising shop challenge.

Chubby’s Chippy was up against Elegant Hair and Nails in Newtown and fellow Albert Road store Barlic Bites in a fund-raising spin-off from the Barnoldswick Bake Off event on November 1st.

The shops were trying to pile as much money as possible into the pot for the Barnoldswick Angels Children’s Charity in addition to what was raised at the Bake Off. A further £100 came in on the day and the total stands at £2,300.

Bake Off co-organiser, Coun. Jennifer Purcell, said: “It was brilliant. You couldn’t see his face, it was completely covered.

“Richard was a great sport. He’s a rugby man so I’m sure he can take it. It was like a scrum he couldn’t get out of.”
