A Barnoldswick walking group is hoping to attract as many past and present members to a celebration tomorrow as it trots through the 10-year milestone.
The Barnoldswick Let’s Walk and Talk group has never missed a Tuesday walk in a decade and is still going strong.
Tuesday’s 10th anniversary will be marked by a usual walk of between three and four miles leaving Barnoldswick Town Square at 10am and returning one and a half hours later for approximately 11-30am.
A Jacob’s Join party will then be held in the Frank Street Pensioners’ Centre where food will have been dropped off before the walk.
Group member Edith Sheldrick said: “Last week we had 31 walkers. Even in winter months the walks are so very popular.
“We have some members who can no longer walk but we keep getting new members and the number of walkers always average between 25 to 30 whatever the weather.
“Anyone is welcome to join us on the walks. It’s a good friendly group, it really is. It would be lovely to see as many people as possible at the celebration.”
The group also published a book of routes in and around Barnoldswick several years ago and is planning to release a second book in the spring.
Mrs Sheldrick added: “We have another book coming soon. There is such a demand for it. The first book sold all 500 copies.
“It’s a celebration of Barnoldswick and the countryside. North, South, East or West from Barlick and you’re in the country.”
