Boxing star Shayne Singleton will step into the ring to launch a charity’s 2016 Santa dash.
Three hundred Santas are expected to walk, jog, or run the 5km route around Barnoldswick on Sunday, December 4th raising money for the Bosom Friends cancer support group.
Registration for the fourth Santa Fun Run is officially open and the Bosom Friends group is encouraging as many people as possible to sign up for the fee of just £10.
The money goes directly to the charity which provides support for people affected by cancer. The fee includes a free Santa suit, a commemorative medal on completion and a hot beverage.
Holly Lynch, who has previously won a National Health Club award for group exercise instructing and personal training, will be warming the Santa’s up before they set off and Ash Alderson, Fitness Evolution Manager, has donated a free seven day pass to everyone who takes part in the run for them to go and try out the state-of-the art resistance and cardio equipment.
West Craven Insurance, Rolls Royce PLC and XLCR Vehicle Management are some of the local businesses that are also supporting this year’s event.
Sharon Hurst, Events Manager at Bosom Friends, said: “The community spirit on the day is amazing from people volunteering their time to help run the event, participating as a Santa or even spectating and cheering their friends and loved ones along. It is an event that brings everyone together for an amazing charity while having fun.”
Obtaining sponsorship is important - even if it is a minimum amount of £20 per person - as that would mean £6,000 would go towards continuing to provide support for people affected by cancer in the Pendle, Craven and Ribble Valley.
