‘Jimmy’s’ housing plan for Nelson recommended for approval
PLANS to build more than 100 houses on a disused Nelson sports field go before Pendle councillors on Monday.
And despite 20 letters of objection from residents and an objection from United Utilities pending the submission of a flow and load impact assessment of the effect the development would have on local sewers, members of Pendle Council’s Nelson Committee are recommended to approve the application for the development on the former James Nelson’s sports field.
Objectors say the proposed access to the site along Priory Chase is unsuitable and would lead to road safety problems.
They also say their concerns about a previous application in 2009 which was subsequently withdrawn regarding traffic have not been addressed.
Planning officer Kathryn Hughes will submit a comprehensive 21-page report on the application by Gleeson Homes to Monday’s meetig recommending approval with 21 conditions attached to it.
