THE Betty Rose Beauty Boutique in Railway Street, Nelson, has raised £540 for Pendleside Hospice.

In December, the boutique held a charity open day where customers were invited to have small treatments including eyebrow waxing, tinting and mini manicures for £5. Half of the takings were donated to the hospice. Refreshments were also on sale.

A raffle that was drawn on the day by Burnley Football Club’s Jay Rodriguez also helped boost the final figure raised.

Rachel Shuttleworth of Betty Rose Beauty Boutique said: “I would like to thank everyone that came along on the day for treatments and all the staff including Jane Robinson, Karen Pellow and Demi Roberts that worked for free. Thank you also to all our helpers and to Jay Rodriguez for taking the time out to draw our raffle.”

If like Rachel and the team at Betty Rose Beauty Boutique you would like to organise your own fund-raising event, contact the hospice fundraising team on 440140 or email lisa.riding@pendleside.org.uk.

Help and support for your event is available to make it as successful as possible.

Fund-raising is vital to keep the hospice running. A grant from the local Primary Care Trust provides approximately 30% of the running costs, but the balance over £2.35 million, is raised locally.
