Practical help on offer at West Craven jobs fair

A THIRD jobs fair will be held at the Rainhall Centre on Thursday, with more than 20 local employers, colleges and agencies set to attend.

As well as information about current job vacancies, there will be an opportunity to find out more about apprenticeships, future vacancies and career prospects within different industries, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair is being supported by Lancashire County Council, Coun. Keith Bailey and with funding from Michael Green, Cabinet member for Economic Development, Environment and Planning.

It is also being run in conjunction with West Craven High Technology College and The Alternative School.

Coun. Bailey said: “For this jobs fair we are also helping people with lots of practical things, like how to write letters, improve their CVs and good interview techniques.

“It is not just for people who are out of work, but those who might be looking to do something different, or are new to the job market and need a bit of extra help and advice.”

Rainhall Centre manager Ann Whitaker said jobs fairs at the venue have proved hugely successful in the past and she hoped people from all over Pendle and beyond would attend. “They’re not only an opportunity for local businesses to cut recruitment costs,” she said. “They provide an opportunity for local people to become aware of the jobs, careers, apprenticeships and courses that are available to them within the local area.”

Companies set to return to the Rainhall Centre for this fair include Rolls-Royce, Hoseasons, Lonsdales, Skipton Building Society, Tesco, Job Centre Plus and the Army.

New attendees will include Matalan, Carson Filtration, Rapid Recruitment, on behalf of Silentnight, and Mitchell Farrer.

Nelson and Colne College, Enterprise Agencies, Lancashire County Council and Craven College will also have representatives at the fair.
