A Barnoldswick businesswoman specialising in sweet treats has been shortlisted in the prestigious Mumpreneur 2014 Awards.

Stephanie Clarke is the founder and co-owner of Purple Cupcakes which designs and distributes an Aladdin’s cave of cake-making tools and sundries from the company’s Church Street workshop.

The business was founded in 2010 when sisters Fiona and Stephanie Clarke decided to pursue their dream of owning a business that made stunning cupcake creations.

Stephanie said: “The business has gone from strength to strength since we made our first cakes.

“We realised that there were opportunities to develop interesting tools and techniques to create truly inspirational cake designs, and we now have a wonderful range of our own Impressit decorating tools together with everything that a professional or amateur cake maker could ever need.”

Such innovation has seen Purple Cupcakes gain an impressive following on Facebook with just shy of 100,000 “Likes” from people with whom they share their ideas and latest eye-catching products.

The Mumpreneur Awards were created as an annual ceremony to celebrate parents throughout the UK who manage the difficult task of juggling business with family life.

And Stephanie admits an award for four years of hard graft would be the icing on the cake.

Stephanie added: “I’m thrilled that we have been shortlisted for an award. We’ve worked so hard, and to be in the finals for this award is amazing.”

Judging Stephanie’s entry will be a panel of top entrepreneurs.

The winners will be announced at The Mumpreneur Conference and Awards on November 8th at the Heart of England Centre in Warwickshire.
