THE Booths supermarket planned for Gisburn Road, Barrowford, will not now open until 2013.
The chain announced on Wednesday that, due to unforeseen complications at the site, it had had to temporarily postpone building work on the new store.
“Extra work has been necessary to carry out work such as diverting essential power supplies and drainage, as well as carrying out structural works to support the highways,” a spokesman said.
“Although work on the store will not resume until spring next year, Booths will be opening a short stay car park in Barrowford for the public to use in the interim period.
“We would like to reassure local people that Booths is very much committed to developing the new store and looking forward to becoming part of the community of Barrowford.
“We will do our best to minimise any inconvenience while we make sure all the necessary infrastructure work is completed safely to allow us to open the store in early 2013.”
